They said: “Liam Gallagher is one of the greatest frontmen of all time.  He is also one of the most original, controversial and charismatic stars of his generation. With his audacious swagger and electrifying presence he showed the world what it meant to be a proper rock star in a band that conquered the world. But in the years that followed Liam has been stuck in the shadows of his brother Noel. He has struggled to define his role as a man and an artist ricocheting between projects whilst fighting his own personal demons.”

LIAM GALLAGHER: AS IT WAS will tell the emotional story how Liam went from the dizzying heights of his champagne supernova years in Oasis to living on the edge ostracised lost in the musical wilderness of boredom, booze and bitter legal battles.

For the first time Liam will tell his story in his own words. LIAM GALLAGHER: AS IT WAS will see Liam emerging from Noel’s shadow managing the expectation going from being in the biggest band in the world to starting again alone, stripped bare, with no-where to hide.

The film will be an honest and revealing portrait telling the story of Liam’s musical resurrection exploring the pressures he was under turning his life around, revealing how he risked everything in launching a solo career shining a light on the harsh life lessons he learnt over the last four years. This is a story of one of the most surprising comebacks in the history of music climaxing in his record breaking sell-out gig in Finsbury Park.

Key performances from Reading, The Ritz, One Love Manchester and Glastonbury will be prominently featured within the film. Interviews with family, colleagues and collaborators tell the story and celebrate Liam’s journey. This will be a candid and honest portrait of a rare talent.

Liam Gallagher said, “As It Was is a documentary about my musical comeback. It covers the writing and recording of my first solo album, right through to playing it live for the very first time in my hometown of Manchester and around the world. I hope you enjoy the film… As You Were.”

Director Charlie Lightening said, “Having known Liam both personally and creatively over the past 10 years, to see him back where he should be, and to see the reaction to him once again has been amazing. For Liam to let me in, to be there to capture it all, up close and personal and to tell the whole story in his own words makes for an amazing film. One of the greatest rock’n’roll comebacks of all times and you are there with him each step of the way.”

Producer Steven Lappin said, “This will be Liam as you’ve never seen him before. For the past 18 months he has provided Charlie Lightning with unparalleled access to every area of his life.
