Close-up on The Pacific

The Pacific is a classic HBO mini TV series produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. It tells the heroic and gruelling stories of the Americans who fought bravely against the a determined Japanese army during World War II, through the eyes of three main characters – Robert Beckie, Eugene B. Sledge and Sgt. John Baseline.

The production team drew upon the true stories of veterans from the war to make sure the script could be as realistic as possible.

They also enlisted the help of legendary film expert and war veteran Dale Dye, from Warriors Incorporated, to make sure each scene could be shot as authentically as possible.

Watch a set report below from a quarry area near the You Yangs Regional Park in Victoria, which was transformed into an epic movie set for the series.
